Life Gone Exercise

< lifeStory >

Fall semester 2010 saw me doing anything but engaging in exercise. It always has seemed to be an afterthought that got ignored, or a resolution that was forgotten a week after it was made. I never had any compelling reason to exercise, and the stand-alone justifications of greater health and a more attractive physique were simply not sufficiently motivating. Now, things seemed to have flipped 180 degrees in no time at all.

You see I got this job. I'm now a SysAdmin in the athletics building (RB) at BYU. Great, right? But what does that have to do with exercise? Its computers I'm supposed to be working with, and I am. Though, at the same time I'm also involved in various projects in the department of health and human performance. Anything from an audio/video setup in the cycling room, to giving input on web design for the fitness and student wellness page. From the posters we print to the projects involved, everything seems to be related to exercise. I'm reminded of that 40 hours a week.

Not only that, in this same building I've decided to visit the pool three times a week. I thought it would be cool, and now I think its awesome and don't want to stop. When I'm not swimming, I'm running, and on Saturdays I go for a bike ride. Then I thought hmm, swimming, running, and biking, there ought to be a sport for that. Oh wait, there is! So I signed up for a triathlon set for September 3rd.

And so it is that my life has begun to revolve around health and exercise.
